The idea of wanting my girlhood back reminds me of the innocence I was robbed of at a very small age, and how it has gone on to affect all my relationships and connections since. This artwork explores the pain and even numbness that I have experienced as a result. I explore the loss of purity and “girlhood,” and the range of emotions that has sparked in me. The objects, posing, expressions, and lighting are all significant to my experience. I draw from the girlhood I once had, and how I feel now that it is gone.
