Recently, I was diagnosed with endometriosis, which is a very painful condition that is concentrated in the uterus. This diagnosis has taken over my life and my identity. For someone who already loved her womanhood so much, it was devastating to come to terms with the truth that my body is fighting back at me. With this in mind, I wanted to create a photo series highlighting both the beauty and pain of womanhood. I used symbolism like pearls, pomegranates, the color red, and unique textiles to encapsulate my concept. I used beautiful imagery mixed with anguish and anger through body language to express my point of view.
