process work
There was a lot of process leading up to this final piece. I started by drawing 9x9 grids on 16x24 paper. I did three pages like this, each page having its own designated character in a frame of movement that I did identical line drawings of in each of the grids. I drew random and intuitive shapes over each of the figures, and used watercolor to add pattern or shape to the figures. I chose one figure from each page. I then took photographs of interesting shapes around me. I uploaded these images into Photoshop and began to create patterns using these shapes in black and white. I composed a color scheme, and began integrating it into the patterns. I uploaded each of the figures I chose and outlined them and placed the patterns and colors on them to create a cohesive piece.
