Loud Woman is a video revolving around its very title: women who are loud. Often times women are criticized for showing any range of emotions and made out to be “too loud” or “dramatic.” There are so many negative connotations around what ‘type’ of woman a woman can be that consists of criticisms of almost every action a woman can do. Each woman has such a unique story, and I felt really honored to be able to capture them. Filming this project was a process. I invited a group of women to participate and scheduled times that they could all come. In advance, I told them to think about what emotion or actions they feel like they can’t express without heavy criticism and to choose a color that corresponded with that idea to light the clip with. Some women chose multiple; all women heavily opened up about what caused them to feel this way.
