process work
Self Portrait I & II were both created by drawing myself with colored pens in a scribbling manner to create shadows and a variety of values. I drew from looking at myself in the mirror. I used the scribbling technique to draw the image of myself to indicate the chaotic and static manner in which I perceive my own image. These pieces were created at the beginning and end of my first semester of college. The second portrait indicates not only the growth of my drawing skills, but my ability to accurately perceive myself and the world around me.
I completed a collection of studies consisting of blind contours and focused thumbnails on small parts of the face to prepare for the final product.
